Right flag makes all the difference.
Our Flag Flyer sent us this picture the other day with a note:
(i) original flag/pole was wiped out during Superstorm Sandy (ii) it was replaced 6 days after Boston Marathon bombing and (iii) first raised by Jay Hughes – a Watertown resident (the town where the second bomber was captured!)
It is a great thing to see community and connection around flags. Getting the flagpole up here is a real inspiration in the face of natural and unnatural destruction. This is a great example of an inspirational photo with a true flag story behind it. While alone, this picture means and evokes so many things, knowing where it came from and what it has taken to keep a flag flying makes us proud to be apart of its history.
